Diane Sestig
Marketing Director
"Trust yourself and follow your goals. Be yourself, find your own strength and follow your goals. Treat everyone with respect and you can expect this in return. "
Meet Diane. She has been working for Ingram Micro the Netherlands for over seven years. She is the Marketing Director for our Marketing Benelux team and based in our office in Utrecht.
Who is Diane?
A driven and ambitious and spontaneous personality, caring and social is important in live! With a lot of passion in my job!
How did your journey in the IT industry start?
My passion has always been the technical work field, so I knew from an early age that I wanted to work in IT. What always attracted me to IT is that it is so dynamic and always changing. Therefore, I knew that it would suit my work needs. I am an analytical thinker which has helped me a lot in this field. I have also been very eager and flexible to learn about all the changes within the software automation.
I started my first job in the IT at a well-known technology company for telecom, industry, and infrastructure. I love how fast IT evolves. I worked for two major IT companies for a total of 25 years before deciding to join Dupaco (now Ingram Micro). After my second year at Ingram Micro, I became Director of Marketing Benelux.
How do you feel being a woman and working at Ingram Micro?
I feel completely accepted for who I am, so I am positive about that. Colleagues take me seriously. I don't feel treated differently or that I must prove myself in another way because I'm a woman. Ingram Micro is welcoming to everyone and that there is a culture of mutual respect both internally and externally.
In my opinion, Ingram feels like a very young, dynamic company where you are fully supported as an employee to develop yourself, no matter who you are. There are a lot of changes happening every day. It’s a saturated market with many different flavors. I still go to work every day with a big smile. I love that I can work with my colleagues who support me and help me achieve the necessary goals within the company. I feel like Ingram Micro provides the perfect balance between having fun and working hard. As a woman I have never felt any less and I think that stems from the amazing work ethic that almost every employee has.
How important is International Women's Day for you and why?
It’s not that important to me on daily base. I feel like it has two sides. On the one hand it is important to take care about the women’s rights, on the other hand I am happy that we are accepted within the environment. We need to respect each other in general.
What tip and/or suggestion would you give to another woman who is thinking of joining the IT industry?
Trust yourself and follow your goals.
Be yourself, find your own strength and follow your goals. Treat everyone with respect and you can expect this in return.
